Accelerated BSN Program FAQs
If you have more questions about how to get started in the Notre Dame of Maryland University Accelerated Second Degree BSN program, read the answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about the Notre Dame ABSN below:
What are the ABSN program start dates?
Our hybrid ABSN program offers three start dates per year — in January, May, and September — making it possible to begin your nursing education sooner. Our on-campus ABSN program offers one start date per year in May.
What are the ABSN program admissions requirements?
To become eligible to enroll in the Notre Dame ABSN, you must have a non-nursing bachelor’s degree, with a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher (on a 4-point scale). Additionally, if you haven’t taken all ABSN prerequisite courses (22 credit hours), you will also need to pass them within the minimum grade requirements to become eligible to apply.
What prerequisites do I need to complete to be eligible for this program?
Prior to enrolling in the Accelerated BSN program you must complete six prerequisite courses, which you can learn more about on our eligibility page. An admissions counselor can help you determine which courses you may still need to complete to become eligible to apply.
How much does the accelerated nursing program cost?
For information on the program fees and other indirect expenses for the hybrid and on-campus ABSN programs, please visit our tuition and fees page.
Can I complete the hybrid ABSN program from anywhere if coursework is 100% online?
No. While the hybrid ABSN program allows students to complete online nursing theory coursework from anywhere, students enrolled in this program must also attend in-person labs at our program site off-campus, and clinical rotations through our practice partners in the greater Baltimore area. For this reason, we recommend living within commuting distance to the program site while enrolled in the hybrid ABSN program.
How do I start my accelerated nursing school application?
Start your accelerated nursing application by speaking with an admissions counselor. He or she will review your previous undergraduate transcripts as well as discuss your next steps for success in the application process.
Is Notre Dame of Maryland University’s ABSN program accredited?
Yes, both the hybrid and on-campus ABSN programs are accredited by the CCNE.
Who is this nursing program for?
Notre Dame is for students who hold non-nursing bachelor’s degrees from a regionally accredited university who wish to transition into the nursing field quickly. We make it possible for qualified applicants to earn a BSN in as few as 15 months. Additionally, because the Accelerated BSN program condenses a traditional, 36-month nursing school curriculum into 15 months, it requires a lot of commitment, motivation, and organization to be successful.
