Message from the School of Nursing Dean
Welcome, and thank you for considering the Notre Dame of Maryland University Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) program.
Our 15-month program in the greater Baltimore area offers a comprehensive education that builds upon the School of Nursing’s tradition of academic excellence and the founding School Sisters of Notre Dame’s longstanding commitment to the underserved.

Through our ABSN program, we aim to prepare you to enter the profession as a compassionate, competent nurse so that you can begin working as soon as possible, improving the health and quality of life of Baltimore’s most vulnerable residents.
The way we strive toward that goal involves a curriculum offered in multiple delivery options. First, you can choose to complete foundational nursing theory coursework via an intuitive e-learning platform or in a traditional classroom-based setting. Whether you excel in a structured in-person learning environment or prefer the autonomy of online learning, you can complete this portion of the program in the format that works best for you.
You will gain hands-on nursing skills development and practice simulations at our state-of-the-art Center for Caring with Technology, which we designed to be risk-free yet realistic environments to strengthen critical thinking and ethical decision-making abilities. Finally, you’ll benefit from our partnerships with prestigious hospitals and health care facilities across Maryland, which grant you access to myriad and varied direct-care clinical experiences.
Across all aspects of our ABSN program, you’ll find dedicated and supportive nurse educators committed to caring science and the success of all students. We take great pride in graduating students who are uniquely equipped to transform the world through nursing.
For all these reasons and more, I invite you to explore how our ABSN program can help you become a nurse on an accelerated timeline. We can’t wait to see how you’ll use your Notre Dame of Maryland University BSN to change health care.
Sincerely,
Kathleen Z. Wisser, Ph.D., RN, CNE
