Message from the School of Nursing Dean
Welcome, and thank you for considering the Notre Dame of Maryland University Accelerated 2nd Degree Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) program.
Our 15-month program in the greater Baltimore area offers a comprehensive education that builds upon the School of Nursing’s tradition of academic excellence and the founding School Sisters of Notre Dame’s longstanding commitment to the underserved.
Through our ABSN program, we aim to prepare you to enter the profession as a compassionate, competent nurse so that you can get to work as soon as possible improving the health of Baltimore’s most vulnerable residents.
The way we strive toward that goal involves a three-part curriculum offered in multiple delivery options. First, you can choose to complete foundational nursing theory coursework via an intuitive e-learning platform or in a classroom-based setting. Whether you excel in a structured in-person learning environment or prefer the autonomy of online learning, you can complete this portion of the program in the format that works best for you.
Second, you will gain hands-on nursing skills at our state-of-the-art simulation labs, which we designed to be a risk-free yet realistic environment to strengthen critical thinking and ethical decision-making abilities. Finally, you’ll benefit from our numerous partnerships with prestigious hospitals and health care facilities across Maryland that will grant you access to varied clinical experiences.
Across all aspects of our ABSN program, you’ll find dedicated and supportive nursing faculty members committed to caring science and the success of all students. We take great pride in graduating students uniquely equipped to transform the world through nursing.
For all these reasons and more, I invite you to explore how our ABSN program can help you earn a BSN on an accelerated timeline. We can’t wait to see how you’ll use your Notre Dame BSN to change the world.
Sincerely,
Kathleen Z. Wisser, Ph.D., RN, CNE, CPHQ
