Online or On-Campus Accelerated Nursing Coursework

No two students learn exactly the same way. That’s exactly why we make our Accelerated BSN courses available in two formats: online and on-campus. Both program options set the foundation for your accelerated nursing education and cover the same comprehensive curriculum and professional preparation on an abbreviated timeline; the only difference is in course delivery.

ABSN Online Courses

Students enrolled in our Hybrid Accelerated 2nd Degree BSN program complete nursing theory coursework online via our Canvas learning management system. While this learning option offers some flexibility regarding when and where you study the course material and submit the coursework, you must still turn in assignments on the schedule set by your instructors.

Not only does this option offer students the independence to complete coursework on their own schedule, but it also grants them access to materials whenever they need them. You have unlimited opportunities to review concepts you don’t understand after listening to the interactive exercise for the first time.

While our hybrid ABSN program allows for autonomy regarding how and when you study, you’ll still have multiple ways to connect with nursing instructors. Our nursing faculty is available to help you navigate nursing topics via online chat through our LMS platform, email, phone, or in-person meetings.

You will also have plenty of face-to-face interactions with instructors through the other components of the Notre Dame ABSN. While you’ll submit nursing coursework online, you’ll sit for proctored exams and attend simulation labs at our ABSN program site. You’ll also work alongside experienced clinical instructors during clinical rotations at top health care facilities across Baltimore.

ABSN On-Campus Courses

If you prefer face-to-face learning with instructors in real time, you can enroll in our on-campus ABSN program. This learning option offers small class sizes, faculty mentoring, and hands-on experience in an environment dedicated to individualized learning.

Through our campus-based ABSN program, you’ll attend classes for your nursing theory courses and participate in nursing skills and simulation labs at our state-of-the-art Center for Caring with Technology, the centerpiece of a 36,500-square-foot building housing the School of Nursing that opened on our main campus in Baltimore in August 2013.
