On-Campus or Online ABSN Program Coursework

Students learn differently. That’s why we make our Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program available in two formats: hybrid and traditional classroom sessions on campus. Both program delivery format options set the foundation for your accelerated nursing education and cover the same comprehensive curriculum and professional preparation on an abbreviated timeline; the only difference is the program delivery.

Before enrolling, consider your learning style to choose the format that best fits your needs. Whether you select our on-campus or hybrid online ABSN program, you’ll gain the knowledge and confidence to be nursing practice-ready when you graduate.

Online ABSN Courses

Our hybrid Accelerated BSN program students complete nursing theory coursework online via our learning management system. While this option affords some flexibility over when and where you study course material and submit coursework, you still must turn in assignments on the schedule set by your instructors.

This option also enables access to materials as often as needed. This means you have unlimited opportunities to review concepts learned in the interactive exercises.

While our hybrid online ABSN program does allow for autonomy in how and when you study, you’ll still have multiple ways to connect with nursing instructors. Our nursing faculty are available to help you navigate nursing topics via online chat through our learning platform, email, phone, or in-person meetings.

A nursing degree cannot be completed entirely online, so you will also have plenty of face-to-face interactions with nursing faculty through the other components of the Notre Dame hybrid and on-ground ABSN programs. While you’ll submit nursing coursework online, you’ll sit for proctored exams and attend simulation lab learning experiences in person at our ABSN program site. You’ll also work alongside experienced clinical instructors during direct-care clinical rotations at top health care facilities across Baltimore and the greater Baltimore area.

On-Campus Accelerated BSN Courses

If you prefer in-person learning with instructors in real time, you can enroll in our on-campus ABSN program. This learning option offers small class sizes, face-to-face teaching and learning strategies beyond lectures, and experiential learning experiences in an environment dedicated to individualized learning.

Through our campus-based ABSN program, you’ll attend classes for your nursing theory courses and participate in nursing skills and immersive simulation lab learning experiences at our state-of-the-art Center for Caring with Technology, the centerpiece of a 36,500-square-foot building housing the School of Nursing that opened on our main campus in Baltimore in August 2013.
